OK, so continuing with the topics - next is...

Spuds

I'm growing 3 types of potatoes - some that were sprouting in the kitchen which I didn't want to throw away given our current situation, first earlies, & main crop. The first two are planted in two rows in the border next to the patio, with about a dozen of the sprouters and eight or so first earlies. The main crop (~20) are now in the first new veg patch.

The first three pictures show the maincrop potatoes being planted last week.

The sprouters and the first earlies went in a few weeks ago, and last week, the very first greenery was showing. Then today, you can see that both rows of spuds are breaking out of the ground. Nothing yet from the main crop, but they went in later.

Another veg patch

Once I'd put the main crop potatoes in the new veg patch it was very clear that I'd need more space to plant the seeds/seedlings I want have. Hence, another veg patch! First, cutting the turf...

And this week, I have been digging it over - actually, forking! The bucket is for stones and roots that appear. Both this patch and the other have lots of stones!

Traversible path!!

The bushes and brambles were encroaching on the path, but they have been cut back, and now it is possible to use it - handy in lockdown as a safe place to walk ;-)

Turfing at the top

Of course the turf from the second veg patch has to go somewhere - and the top garden, by the road, has been looking pretty bare so that's where it went.

The top garden is now about 2/3rds turfed, so maybe I'll have to extend one or other of the veg patches...

OK, up to date now - more soon.
